The eastern continent of Govol lies at the southern end of the Thousand Islands chain. It is bisected by an Essaence stream, and only the northern half is inhabited.
The north coast has a warm climate and was home to several towns in the third era.
Further inland the climate changes as the fertile fields make way for a desert belt and finally, just north of the Essaence stream there is a stretch of jungle.
Though Govol was ignored by the lich armies during the Unlife Wars, it was the site of a devastating civil war. Details are not known, as contact with Govol is minimal, but the destruction is said to be no less than in other parts of the world.
The southern half of Govol geologically very active, with more than 200 active or semi-active volcanos. The land is generally rocky and barren, though in places the fertile ground has provided for lush greenery.
