Jobs

Basics

A character can decide to do a job as his Offtime activity.

All jobs are activated by finding a “Hiring” sign and clicking it. Each such sign should tell you the pay and requirements. If you fill the requirements your Offtime activity is set to that job.

You will also see many “Work” signs detailing how long the current holder of the job will hold it.

Why work? First, to cover your expenses. Having a bare-minimum bedroll and basic food will cost you 1 cp/day each (2 cp/day) and each goes up depending on your housing level and prestige rating. Next, you can earn extra cash during your offtime to buy that something special. If you do not get a job you may find the local authorities deducting your expenses from your money pouch or bank account.

Effects

When you log out a visual copy of your character will start doing the job at the location, doing the working animations, having the proper conversation and such.

Only one person can do a given job at a time.

In most cases the PC will then replace the default NPC that does the job when no PC is doing it.

Where to get jobs

Mundane jobs an be found by just looking around.

Many guilds offer jobs to members depending on their rank, with the higher paying jobs reserved to higher ranked members.

Pay

Each job has a basic pay, depending on the status. The base pay is then modified by the appropriate skill as said on the job announcement.

For example a porters pay would depend on his Strength, whereas a entertainers on perform.

Statusbase payTypical requirement
11cp/“skill rank”/daynone
22cp/“skill rank”/dayguild apprentice or status 2
34cp/“skill rank”/dayguild journeyman or status 3
48cp/“skill rank”/dayguild master or status 4
516cp/“skill rank”/dayguild senior master or status 5

"skill rank"

The skill used can be an ability score, a skill or some other thing like base attack score, spellcasting ability or such.

Those jobs using a skill the “skill rank” is equal to the total skill-1. Thus for a preform based skill, if a bard has a preform of 4 ranks+3 charisma for a total of 7, they get 6 times the base pay/day.

Those jobs using an ability score, the “skill rank” is equal to ability score+1. Thus the same bard would have modifier of 4 times the base pay for a charisma based job.

For all others the “skill rank” is equal to the appropriate score, like the Base attack bonus or such times. So the bonus in question gets multiplied by the base pay.
