===== Vol I: Invasion =====

The great war that was the end of the last era started in Cerea even before it started anywhere else in Myaasia. Ancient ruins had been discovered deep below Vesper and foreign powers - first among them the Northern Empire - sought to take control of them.

After a few initial skirmishes, wherein small advance forces of the Empire could be easily defeated by the valiant defenders of Derimir, there came the day of the invasion.

Much might have been different if most of the heroes who called the city of Cerea home hadn’t been away that day… The invaders came in a huge fleet of ships at first posing as newly hired recruits for the Cerean army, but when Captain Thenthen challenged them at the docks, they showed their true colours and began to attack the city.

All along the shore enemy ships were unloading warriors. Most of the city was overrun in minutes; only in the markets Captain Thenthen, aided by Lady Shessair, the firemage, and dwarven mastercrafter Sir Clentlenker managed to hold out for several hours before Captain Thenthen had to order the retreat to Vesper. The fighting continued around the Ra temple until late in the night, but eventually the resistance there died also. The next day, the temple was sacked and burned to the ground.

Though the invaders lost more than a thousand warriors that day, in the evening they controlled all of the city. And would control it until it’s destruction a few years later, except for a short period of a few days of which I will tell later…
